Turning off Smart Tag conversions in Word |
|
Issue
When generating a *.dot template with GhostFill Date/Time FillPoints, the document is presented and everything is fine. When the user chooses to save the document, by using the Microsoft Word Save button, it saves with the *.doc extension. The next time the user opens the document form "My Documents" the original GhostFill Date/Time fields are converted to Word Fields. The fields are updated automatically and insert the current date/time.
Solution
Option 1:
Use the Save to GhostFill button on the GhostFill toolbar in Word (set the mapping under documents to change this location to the desired location).
Option 2:
Turn off the Smart Tags. Under Tools > AutoCorrect Options > SmartTags click Remove Smart Tags.

The following warning will appear. Click Yes to continue.

From this point forward when a template is generated the fields will not be converted, no matter how they are saved.
