Problem

Installing GhostFill on computers using WINNT when users do not have Administrator rights.

Description

To install GhostFill on computers using WINNT, each user needs to have Administrator rights. In many organizations, it is preferable for users not to have the liberties that these rights offer. This means that, with each installation, an Administrator needs to assign the rights to the user for the purpose of the installation and then unassign them.

Solution

There are two ways to assign and remove rights for the installation:

Option 1

  1. Log in as Administrator and give all potential Users on the computer concerned Administrator rights.

  2. Log in separately as each potential user and install GhostFill in the usual way.

  3. Log in as Administrator again and remove the Administrator rights from each user.

Option 2

  1. Log in as Administrator and install GhostFill.

  2. Export the data stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GhostFill into a .reg file.

  3. Then log in as each potential user and simply import the same .reg file into the registry.

NOTE

Option 2 is a more efficient alternative if there are a number of potential users.
